If your application is selected to host a Tree Campus USA tree-planting event, you will receive:
- Up to 100 new trees for your campus grounds.
- A service learning project for all campus students.
- Professional assistance and guidance with the planting of the new trees.
- The chance to be part of a nation-wide tree planting campaign.
- Positive publicity for your campus.
- Opportunity for campus students and community representatives to work together on an environmental project.
Applicants wishing to host a Tree Campus USA tree-planting event agree to:

Submit a site that is in need of new trees and is able to accommodate between 25 and 100 large (fifteen-gallon size) trees.
- This site should be on the college or university campus grounds or on community property that is utilized frequently by the campus students.
- This site should not be larger than 5 blocks in total size.
- If possible the site should be in a high traffic/high visibility area of campus or in area of campus that has historical significance.
- Recruit a minimum of 40 student volunteers to participate in the event.
- The applicant, as well as other appropriate contacts, chosen to participate will be responsible for recommending the appropriate trees for the planting site.
- Campuses or the appropriate site contacts agree to provide necessary water and mulch for the newly planted trees for up to one year following the event.
The Arbor Day Foundation will:
- Coordinate all media outreach for the events, which will include a press conference at each site selected.
- Select the date for the tree planting event in consultation with the appropriate site contacts.
- Assist and provide tools to help the selected school recruit student volunteers.
- Oversee all logistical aspects for the event, including signage, volunteer registration, catering, scheduling, and the press conference.
