Application FAQ
- What type of college is eligible?
- Any 2– or 4-year accredited college or university may apply.
- What are the dates for this application?
- Applications will be accepted until July 1, 2009 at 5 p.m. central time.
- When will the eight campuses selected be announced?
- The list of campuses will be announced on August 1, 2009.
- When will these tree planting celebrations be held?
- The Arbor Day Foundation and the selected campuses will work closely together to determine the best date to hold the celebrations in fall of 2009.
- How many applications may I submit?
- You may submit up to 5 different planting sites on 5 separate applications.
- Who will select the type of trees to be planted during the event?
- The Arbor Day Foundation will work closely with the campus grounds department or city forester or arborist to choose the best type of trees for the location.
- What type of site should we submit with our application?
- This site should be on the college or university campus grounds or on community property that is utilized frequently by the campus students. This site must be able to accommodate between 10 and 100 large (fifteen-gallon size) trees.
- Who will help plant the new trees?
- Selected applicants will be required to recruit a minimum of 30 campus and or community volunteers to participate in the event. The Arbor Day Foundation will also help recruit local volunteers to assist with the tree planting.
- Do I have to obtain the permission of campus administration or a similar campus representative before I submit my application?
- Yes, before submitting this application for consideration, all applicants must obtain permission from the campus administration and grounds management. These two permissions will alert the proper groups of your intention to submit this application and to insure the newly planted trees will not interfere with any pre existing plans for the campus.
